Update HTC One S to Android 4.2.2 CM10.1 Nightly Jelly Bean Custom ROM

The reason we created this tutorial was to show our readers that updating your HTC One S to whatever custom ROM made available online shouldn’t be a pain.

smooth things over, here we have all the requirements that prepare the way ahead for the steps following afterwards: root your HTC One S and install ClockworkMod Recovery, create backups for your personal data, settings and installed applications, charge the battery, turn USB Debugging on, your handset should be a factory unlocked one and you need to install USB drivers for it. If the requirements above have been followed to a tee, then it’s the appropriate time to download GApps from here and ; where: to your laptop.

The tutorial telling you how to update your smartphone to new CyanogenMod 10.1 Jelly Bean custom ROM begins here.HTC-One-S

Important instructions

  1. With step one: the USB cable of the handset should be taken and used to make it possible for the phone to connect to the laptop. When this is done, move the both of the files you downloaded to the phone’s memory card.
  2. The second step to follow is this: power the One S off. Now perform the following (these actions will make the smartphone reach a mode called Bootloader): power the device on while selecting and pressing the keys labelled Power and Volume Down. Wait for prompts to be displayed.
  3. Then step three will ask you to follow them and to opt for BOOTLOADER.
  4. The step that comes now, the fourth, tells you to do as follows: go to RECOVERY and then wipe data; after you perform this, choose Flash zip from SD card by clicking on Power. Now opt for Choose zip from SD card by pressing Power and go to the Android 4.2.2 ROM zip file through Volume.
  5. Choose this file with Power.
  6. The action will need a confirmation and afterwards you will have to repeat all of the above – from “go to the new custom ROM archive” -, but choose the GApps pack this time around.
  7. Then go to “Go Back” for the seventh step; the One S shall have to reboot for the update to be installed.
  8. Do this as shown in the eighth step: go to the handset’s recovery menu, then opt for Reboot system now. This will require about 5 minutes to finish. After the time will be up, you need to go to “About phone” and look for the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 CM10.1 Nightly custom ROM. Should it be in that place, then all’s in order.
