smartphone that is tiny is always a thing to look forward to in a smartphone (besides its price and specs, obviously). So when Huawei announced that they would launch the thinnest handset in the world, gadget lovers everywhere were sure to let out a big round of excited applause.
Huawei are naming this new phone Ascend P6-U06. According to Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center MIIT, the smartphone has already received an approval from them.
The handset that has been the thinnest one worldwide was, until recently, been Alcatel’s One Touch Idol Ultra that comes with a thickness of 6.45 mm. Compared to that, the body of Huawei’s Ascend P6-U06 is 6.18 mm thick. The weight of the new model is 120 g.
The specifications of the most recent phone made by the Taiwanese manufacturer have already been unveiled. The Ascend P6-U06 has a 4.7-inch display, 720p, a 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU and Android 4.1.2. Photos will be snapped with the phone’s 5-megapixel camera.
The integrated storage has an amount of 32 GB and there are 2 GB of RAM. From the fact that the device comes with dual-SIM support, one can assume that it is going to become available in Asia for the time being. But we’re talking about what could be the thinnest smartphone the world has ever seen, so Huawei is bound to offer the Ascend P6-U06 in other parts of the world in the near future.
The price and official release date for the phone will be revealed at a later time, though. However, everyone hopes to see the Ascend P6-U06 at an attractive price tag.
If nothing else happens in the meantime, like Oppo announcing their R809T to actually be thinner than Huawei’s, we can safely assume that the Ascend P6-U06 is going to become very popular once its mother company releases it.
